Grand Prismatic Spring - The Rainbow Lake

There are quite a number of very beautiful places on this planet called
earth. Some of these places are so surreal that you can refer to them as
nothing but a natural wonder.
This strange lake called Grand Prismatic is one of such places. One of the
most alluring thing about this lake is the clashing bring colors that can make
a painting green with envy

The Grand Prismatic is not only colourful, but it also a hot spring that is
enormous in size.
Another odd fact about this spring is that the debt of it is deeper than a
10-Story Building, and the extremely hot water travels 121 feet from a crack in
the Earth to reach the surface of the spring.
The third largest spring in the world, the Grand Prismatic is bigger than a
football field at 370 feet in diameter. A gridiron is 360 feet long and 160
feet wide.
The hot spring boasts of extremely bright colors that come in hues of orange,
yellow, and green, and these ring the deep blue waters in the spring. The
multicolored layers get their pigmentation from different species of
thermophile (heat-loving) bacteria living in the progressively cooler water
around the spring. The deep blue colour of the water is caused by wavelengths
of light that are scattered by the water.

This beautiful hot spring was caused by a volcano that erupted to heights
of about 300 feet in 1800. It went dormant for much of the 20th century, only
to suddenly erupt for two days in 1985—some of its blasts reached 80 feet in
height.
