Photographer Almost Killed By Tsunami While Photographing A Volcano

In a strange but fearful coincidence, a photographer had very nearly lost
his life after he went to photograph a volcano.
Lund Andersen, an employee of the Norwegian embassy in Jakarta, in one of
his hobbies had gone to photograph a well-known active volcano in in Anyer on
the Javanese coast when the disaster struck.
According to him, as he was taking pictures, he saw a very huge and fearful
wave coming towards him. He had to pack up his equipment and run as fast as he
could up the beach.
''I was myself at the beach photographing the well known volcano --
Anak-Krakatau, when I suddenly saw a big wave came. I had to run, as the wave
passed the beach and landed 15-20m inland. Next wave entered the hotel area
where I was staying and downed cars on the road behind it. Managed to evacuate
with my family to higher ground trough forest paths and villages, where we are
taken care of by the locals."
Indonesia's geologic agency said that the volcano struck for two minutes
and 12 seconds on Friday. Mr. Andersen further reported that he got to discover
that it was the volcano he was photographing that caused the Tsunami.
He posted on his Facebook page saying, ''Authorities here are saying that
this might in fact have been a tsunami caused by the activity of the volcanic
eruption I was photographing.
It was revealed that dozens of buildings were damaged and streets flooded
between the islands of Java and Sumatra when the tsunami struck around 9:30
p.m. Saturday. It was also said that at least 43 people lost their lives in the
horrific phenomenon, while 582 others sustained various degrees of injuries.
